First New Moon of 2015

The first New Moon of the Year:  Supermoon!

January 20th brings the first new moon of the year and it also happens to be one of the six supermoons of 2015.   This year there are 3 super “New” moons and 3 super “Full” moons  the calendar line-up of these yin/yang superpowers spread across the year in excellent proportion and alignment to take advantage of the cosmic energies of our galaxy.

2015 Moon Calendar - supermoon highlights

A Supermoon? Also known as perigee new moons or perigee full moons. Perigee means “near Earth.” Astrologer, Richard Nolle, coined the term supermoon defined as. . . a new or full moon which occurs with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth, measuring from the centers of the moon and Earth.

The six supermoons are the new moons of January, February and March, and the full moons of July, August and September.

The full moon on September 28, 2015, will be the closest supermoon of the year. What’s more, this September 28, 2015 full moon will stage a total lunar eclipse, concluding a series of Blood Moon eclipses that started with the total lunar eclipse of April 15, 2014: What is a Blood Moon?

The new moon supermoon on February 18 only lies about 200 kilometers farther away than the September 28 full moon supermoon; making it the second-closest supermoon of 2015 or the closet “new moon” supermoon of the year.

Each month, on the day of the new moon, the Earth, moon and sun are aligned, with the moon in between. This line-up creates wide-ranging tides, known as spring tides. High spring tides climb up especially high, and on the same day low tides plunge especially low (the yin/yang of energy waves).

The January 20 extra-close new moon will accentuate the spring tide, giving rise to what’s called a perigean spring tide. If you live along an ocean coastline, watch for high tides caused by the January, February and March 2015 new supermoons.

The January 20 moon is new at 13:14 UTC. Lunar perigee – the moon’s nearest point to Earth for the month – happens about 1 day and 7 hours after new moon, on January 21, at 20:06 UTC.  This is the day to use the harmonized cosmic energies of three vibrational forces to intensify our focus; “to see what you wish to be true.”

Which brings us to the esoteric awareness of the First New Moon of the Year:

Without being aware of the lunar influence one falls too easily under its hypnotic influence and likely to perceive the wrong dynamics behind a situation, take things too personally, succumb to depression or misplaced outrage, and fail to place one’s energies at the right place at the right time.

Just before and after a new or full moon, powerful cosmic forces produce intensified energies that can distract or enhance us and much like a wave in the ocean, we can either ride it or get flooded over by it. Granted, some people are fine with just observing enough to know when to brace themselves for the flood-over, while others prepare to jump and ride on top of the wave. Brace or ride, the advantage is in awareness of our cosmic relationships.

When the cosmic alignment of sun, moon, planet takes place close to Earth, the enhanced bioelectric vibrations are easier to align with our own biochemistry and what happens is like the charging of a rundown battery plugged into an electromagnetic charging station; only the station is a field and the charge is in the atmosphere. Every human being gets this mandatory charge twice a month; one negative charge (new moon energy) one positive (full moon energy) charge. This cosmic charge is as relevant to life as breathing is and it is also an involuntary condition of life just like breathing and under these mandatory conditions we have to make no effort for the condition to keep us alive.

However, just like breathing, we can choose going through an entire life span taking only the basic shallow breaths that come with the package, or deepening our experience of life by taking deeper, controlled breathes; so too can we deepen our experience of charging our energies with the alignment of 3 harmonized vibrational forces by purposefully directing the current of the charge towards or away from us based in its cycle.

A new moon opens the cycle of expansion for 14 days; the vibration of the alignment are pushing outward, so this is a good time for personal expansion as well as bringing things toward you. It is also a good time for starting new projects and manifesting intentions.

A full moon opens the cycle of contraction for 14 days; the vibration of the alignment pulling upward, so it is a good time for personal retreat, as well as letting go of things and habits.  It is also a good time to clear out clutter, give things away and organize your daily structure.

As with duality of all things, the counter aspects of new and full moon energies are that the new moon energies build on implosion (yin) and tends to induce oversensitivity, dissatisfaction, and depression; whereas the full moon is characterized by energy of explosion (yang) and tends to amplify overreaction, violence, and outright lunacy.

The moon rules over the imagination, and during both full moon and new moon windows the unharnessed imagination is particularly prone to being misapplied conjuring misunderstandings, false suspicions, and an unfounded increase in worries. But whereas the “new” moon exacerbates introspective turmoil, the “full” moon externalizes the trouble and draws it out.

This basic awareness is an aid in itself and evidence for the stanch observer by building her capacity of foresight. Once in a rhythm of regular observation, knowing what phase the moon is in; one starts becoming aware of a problem before it happens, predicting and executing suitable outcomes, and staying on top of their game becomes second nature, giving power over the invisible and subliminal influences of nature. With this kind of awareness one can produce more efficiently, have a smoother and more exciting path of progress through life, avoid unproductive obstacles, and gain an unlimited measure of liberation to reach ones highest potential.

Astronomical Rarity: Blue Moon – August 2012

Blue moon is the name used when a second full moon appears in one month; though it will likely look no different than any other full moon, the moon can appear to take on a bluish or even lavender hue especially after forest fires or volcanic eruptions.

Some almanacs and calendars assert that when two full moons occur within a calendar month, the second full moon is called a “blue moon.”  Origin of the term

The phrase “once in a blue moon” was first noted in 1824 and refers to occurrences that are uncommon, though not truly rare. Yet, to have two full moons in the same month is not as uncommon as one might think.  In fact, it occurs, on average, about every 2.66 years.  And in the year 1999, it occurred twice in a span of just three months.

Blue Moon/New Moon

While we’ve assigned the name blue moon to the second full moon of the month, it seems that we have no such name for the second new moon of the month.  Nonetheless, these opposing phases seem to be connected with each other. For if two new moons occur within a specific month, then in most cases, four years later, two full moons will also occur in that very same month.

As an example, there were two new moons in August 2008. Now, four years later, August 2012 will be graced with two full moons.

The next time we will see two full moons in a single month comes in July 2015 (July 1 and 31). But if you still have a calendar leftover from last year, check the month of July.

You’ll find that there were two new moons on the 1st and the 30th.

The Esoteric:

As bookends for August 2012, we have a Leo-Aquarius Full Moon experience on August 1 that places a focus on individual creativity as it pertains to teamwork, group projects, community involvement and global networking. By the end of the month, August 31 offers a Virgo-Pisces solar-lunar rapport that suggests with one-pointed dedication and highly-advanced organizational skills any individual can live a more soulful and compassionate life.

In between these dates, you will want to pay particular attention to Mercury shifting from reverse to direct motion in Leo on August 7. Keep in mind that just because Mercury will be in forward gear during the 24 to 48 hours thereafter doesn’t mean this key planet associated with communication, transportation, business and health will be moving quickly. It will take nearly 10 days for Mercury to move at a similar daily speed as the Sun (about 1 degree of motion per 24 hours) and take about 25 days for Mercury to move twice that fast. The faster Mercury moves each day, the quicker our mental states may be functioning – allowing many earth dwellers to tune into important intellectual and intuitive realms of knowledge.

If you are looking to tune into a wave of optimism, feel a surge of encouragement across the board or rekindle the hope of reaching long-term goals, Saturday August 11 may greet you with some good news since that day presents the monthly Moon-Jupiter zodiacal union in Gemini followed by a Moon-Jupiter parallel and a fairly rare Vesta-Jupiter conjunction. This latter alignment activates many of the Vesta archetypes that include safety and security, insurance rates and coverage, investments, the eternal flame, fellowships and sisterhoods.

A far more complex day is in store for everyone as we reach the Ides of August when the 15th of the month ushers in Venus opposite Pluto and square Uranus while Mars joins forces with Saturn at 25 degrees of Libra. Mars and Saturn only unite about every 2 years on average, and their rendezvous may spark various tests of logic, right action and endurance under pressure. Since there are several other challenging aspects on this date, you will want to circle your calendar for this time and be extra vigilant and alert.

Just two days later, the New Moon in Leo may be just the fiery, assertive boost you need to recharge your artistic and creative batteries. Because the Sun makes an inspirational, 72-degree link to usually benevolent Jupiter on August 17 – while the two days that follow include similar, 72-degree aspects connecting the Sun and Vesta, Ceres and Uranus, as well as Saturn and distant Pluto – there are many golden opportunities to make a great leap forward during this key time-period of the summer.

Quarter Moon phases are some of the most overlooked astrology cycles in terms of significance. Whenever the Sun and Moon lock horns via a 90-degree square pattern, tensions rapidly fill the psychic atmosphere of humanity. The First Quarter Sun-Moon Phase of Friday August 24 is no exception and there may be an added component of confusion, chaos and uncertainty since the annual Sun-Neptune opposition also happens on the same day. Of course, there is always the chance that you can tweak any intense cosmic energy-field in your favor by being extra conscientious, hardworking and determined. Therefore, even a day that sounds discordant can be transformed into a glowing success on the material plane via your perseverance.

Just before the second Full Moon of August occurs, the comet-like body we call Chiron (currently in Pisces) gains prominence during its annual polarity with the Sun in Virgo on August 30 – the same day that Venus forms a powerful, 135-degree aspect with Chiron, a key celestial body associated with holistic healing, alternative medicine, mavericks, keys opening doors to higher consciousness, déjà vu experiences, and twilight zones of strange time and altered consciousness. Learn more about herbs, flower essences, health aids, and oracles like the Tarot, I-Ching and other magical techniques to explore the subtle realms. While Chiron is on center stage, a large number of both discordant and exhilarating alignments will be fighting for supremacy as August morphs into September under the dreamy, visionary auspices of Pisces Moon.

This expansion of energy flooding into the Earth and indeed the entire Milky Way Galaxy comes through a stargate, or energy portal, opening on the star Aldebaran. This stargate is now beginning to open as part of a Divine Plan for the evolutionary advancement of all life within this galaxy.

The 2012 Summer Soltice

So far, the 2 Eclipses have signaled a completion of our older energies and karmas up to this point in time. According to Mayan scholars who are more knowledgeable about such subjects, the recent Transit of Venus ended a major galactic cycle of Time. We are now ready to begin a new awareness of ourselves in relationship to the Galaaxy!

Cleaning unproductive emotions and personal behaviors from our lives has been the general theme up until now. This “housecleaning” may have had changes and transformational impacts upon your intimate relationships, friendships, and even who your business associates are. Generally, this is a time of release and personal transformation, so attempting to “go back” and “patch up” problems with others may just lead to an extended period of wheel-spinning! All of 2012 is a time for all of us to focus on what we need to improve and develop within ourselves!

I know it may sound heartless to simply say, “My path leads in a different direction,” and just leave others behind. But are you? If the past was unproductive and restricting your higher growth and awareness, then going back will not bring you – and others – what is truly demanded from you. Become yourself, and share those spiritual gifts and compassion with others.

As a year of Transformation, 2012 is all about moving up a notch in dimensional awareness and capabilities. Remaining at the level of a 3D (third dimensional) perspective will only provide you with more of what you are trying to grow beyond. Realize that as a species of human, and a planet in general, we are all in an evolutionary state that will do no less than propel us beyond 3D into 4D (fourth dimensional) awareness.

(Rather than describe 3D vs 4D awareness, I strongly advise you to search this subject for yourself to gain a far deeper understanding through self-searching that resonates with your heart.) Basically, we are shifting from linear, rational perspectives to realizations that are heart-centered and holistic.

The Summer’s Solstice on 20 June 2012 (6:09 PM CDT), and going into July 2012, are going to be VERY SURPRISING and UNEXPECTED! One thing I want to say about “this claim” is that up until now, there has also been a lot of “promises” about what we could expect, as provided to us by other psychics and channelers, have simply not happened. Or did they?

Remember, we are in 3D now, and as long as we remain in a linear state of how, what, when, where, our abilities to “see” a transformation are going to be very elusive. Yeah, predicted changes do appear to be moving slowly…or perhaps slower than we think they should be. But is that the fault of the predictions, or is it a fault of ours to shift our awareness and actions to a higher frequential vibration?

I am not trying to place blame, but I am simply trying to point out that we cannot stay where we are in 3D, and like kids in the back seat of car, scream out, “Are we there yet?” No! When we get there, both us and the world around us will appear different! Simply, 3D is more of a rational, brain-centered perspective (that’s why scientists emphasize that we are only using 10% of our brain power). Thus, we must move from that limited perception to one that brings in the heart-centered perceptions of love, inclusiveness, holistic, and nothing is separate. We are all One! When you can get to that awareness – then you have arrived at the beginning of 4D reality! For instance, it has recently been accepted that the electro-magnetic field of the heart is 70% stronger than that of the brain! So, our hearts are providing each of us with a larger field of awareness. Authors like Drunvalo Melchizedek and Gregg Braden have some wonderful YouTube videos that offer visualizations of how the heart’s EMF assumes the shape of a torus, and extends up to 22 feet from our physical bodies! Wow!

Practice this meditation technique: Find a quiet place where you will not be distracted. Early in the morning is a good time to meditate. (I like to open the window and listen to the morning birds singing their songs.) Quieting the mind can be challenge, so, first, pay attention to your breathing. See if you can feel your breath going all the way to the area at or below your belly button. This will enable you to take deep, slow breaths. Secondly, listen and feel your heart beating. Don’t forget to breath. Practice coordinating these 2 sensations. What happens next may surprise you! Images may appear, and these will be messages in and of themselves. Make note of what you are being told – it may surprise you! Namaste!
